Empower Infinite Possibilities through Crowdfunding - an innovative and powerful method of engaging broad communities in fundraising for specific projects. Crowdfunding donations are typically small but generate a large number of donors, so every dollar adds up quickly to reach a larger goal.

The most successful projects rely on a Project Leader or Team with a strong network of alumni, friends, family, and peers who will share the project via social media.

Jefferson FAQ

Who can submit a crowdfunding project?

All Jefferson-East Falls departments and registered organizations are eligible to submit projects. Individual students, faculty, or staff must have a sponsoring department/organization.

How much can I raise?

Ideal crowdfunding projects raise $1,000-$5,000 for immediate needs. Crowdfunding should not be used for general program support.

Why should I use Jefferson Crowdfunding?

-By using this resource instead of unaffiliated third-party sites:

-100% of the contributions will go toward your project (even if the goal isn't reached).

-Donors will receive tax credit for their gift because Thomas Jefferson University is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

-The Office of Institutional Advancement can provide marketing support.

-The Office of Institutional Advancement will steward donors and engage alumni which will increase giving and participation over time.-

What happens if I don't reach my fundraising goal?

Projects will receive all of the funds raised during the campaign even if the goal is not met.

What are some tips to ensure my project is fully funded?

- Projects should reflect an immediate need or sense of urgency with a relatable goal.

- The key to successful crowdfunding is a large social network with active ambassadors promoting the project on multiple platforms and sending regular updates.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes! All philanthropic contributions to Jefferson are tax-deductible as prescribed by law.

 

Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?

Yes, you will receive a receipt via e-mail shortly after making your gift.

 

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will be charged immediately upon finalizing your gift.

 

Do I have to pay online?

There are many ways to pay:

Credit Card - Call 215-951-2850 to give your credit card information directly to a staff person in the Office of Institutional Advancement

Gift of Stock or Wire Transfer - call 215-951-2850 for instructions

What if the project doesn't reach its goal?

All of the money raised will go toward the project even if it isn't funded.

 

How much of my money is going toward the project?

100% of your donation is going toward the project you give to.
